#ArtisticAnatomy
This note mainly covers the layering relationships of the main muscles on the front of the torso.
Starting from an empty skeleton. The skeletal structure drawn here is not strictly accurate and is only used as a positional reference.
Serratus Anterior
-
The serratus anterior lies on the ribs and can be approximated as wrapping around the ribs from back to front, unit by unit.
-
The serratus anterior should not extend too far. From the front view, the serratus anterior is located on the sides of the body.
-
Generally, only lean or muscular people show clearly visible serratus anterior lines on the body surface.
Pectoralis Major
The pectoralis major can be divided into 3 parts: the first part is triangular, with one side along half of the clavicle and its corresponding point on the humerus; the second part has one side on the sternum and its corresponding point also on the humerus, slightly higher than the previous point; the third part is as shown in the figure and is difficult to describe in words.
Latissimus Dorsi
The latissimus dorsi extends from the back, so it is discussed in more detail in the back muscles section. For now, it is enough to know that the latissimus dorsi wraps around the serratus anterior, and the part visible from the front lies below the pectoralis major.
Trapezius
It originates from the mastoid process and extends to the outer end of the clavicle, covering the neck like a cape.
Deltoid
The deltoid has three heads, essentially wrapping around the acromion from front to back, with all insertion points on the lateral side of the humerus. Under the coverage of the deltoid, the point where the pectoralis major converges on the humerus is no longer visible from the outside.
External Obliques
They run diagonally. They interweave with the serratus anterior.
Rectus Abdominis
The navel is at the junction of the third and fourth segments of the rectus abdominis. Pay attention to the tilt, angle, and curvature of the muscles.
